Buffalo Brewfest 2007

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007 by Tim

Saturday, August 25, I helped man the KegWorks booth at Buffalo’s 6th Annual Brewfest. We made some contacts, handed out some Draft Magazines, tasted some beer, and chatted with past and (hopefully) future customers.

Like the last year, the event was held at the Buffalo Central Terminal and benefited the Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center. Gates to the outdoor vendor area opened at one o’clock. The terminal doors opened and the taps began pouring at two o’clock. There was food available outside and the breweries lined the main corridor inside the terminal. After finishing my “shift” watching the booth, I sampled a few brews, including some from favorites Saranac, Victory, and Harpoon.

The beer sampling was nice, but the highlight of my day was getting to experience the old Buffalo Central Terminal first hand. While setting up our booth, Dave regaled me with some fascinating stories involving the giant, nearly 80-year-old structure. Though it looks to be in disrepair now, its current state is actually an upgrade from its condition 10 years ago. This FAQ contains some interesting information regarding the history and planned future of the terminal.

Although I really have no business complaining about a beautiful, sunny August day in Buffalo, it was quite humid and sticky that afternoon. When you add a couple thousand bodies milling around in close quarters, the temperature inside the terminal increases even more. Some members of our crew were sweating like Phil Mickelson on 17 at Sawgrass. Dave, Tom and I immediately headed outside after our booth shift was over for a brief respite from the stifling atmosphere indoors.

Aside from the minor inconvenience of the humidity, the event came off without a hitch. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth. Hopefully, we were able to provide all the information you were seeking. If not, please contact our customer service to answer any other questions you might have. If you weren’t able to make it this time around, mark your calendar and hopefully we’ll see you next year at the 7th annual Buffalo Brewfest.
