The Value of Quick Shipping

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Here at KegWorks, our customer’s experience is our top priority. One of the ways we provide excellent service is fast shipping. The focus of our company is home bar equipment. We stock as many products as possible in that area so we can ship instantly. If our customers place an order, we would like to get it out the same day. Here is a look at our quick process.

Orders are processed almost instantly in our system.

Wine Was First Made Where?

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Wine GrapesWhen you think of wine and where it is made what comes to mind? France, Italy, Napa Valley, maybe Spain? How about Georgia? Not the state—the Republic of Georgia, in Eastern Europe. Nestled between the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountain range, this country of roughly 5 million people is believed to be the birthplace of wine. According to Oz Clark of VINOPOLIS World Wine Guide, “The Transcaucasian region, home today to the Georgians, is one of Vitis Vinifera Sativa land and is believed to have been the place where grapes were first harvested to be made into wine some 7000 years ago…”

Scientists and archaeologists have uncovered wine vessels dating back to 5000 BC. Ancient burial grounds in Georgia also contain wine artifacts including vine trimming tools and wine themed ornaments. Due to the varied climate and rich soil conditions, in Georgia there are a plethora of grape varieties. In fact, there are over 500 species of grapes from which wine makers can choose. If you ever have the opportunity give a glass or a bottle a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Growlers - Not Just for Travel

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Filled Growlers for Draft BeerIf you are like myself or many of the customers I talk to everyday, your kegerator is located in some out of the way place in your home. My converted refrigerator is in the basement; great for not making a mess; not so convenient because there are two doors and flight of stairs between my next beer and me. I have cut down on my trips up and down stairs with growlers. If I am going to drink more than one beer, or have a couple of friends for some beers and the game, I fill up a couple of growlers and stick them in the kitchen fridge. To keep filling a little neater and easier, I put a tray under my faucet and use a growler filler to cut down on foam.

A growler will hold four 16-ounce beers, so do the math, and two growlers will hold eight 16-ounce beers. One trip to the basement for every 8 beers significantly decreases my time away from my guests and the game. If you have some beer left over in a growler it will hold overnight in the refrigerator, but I don’t usually have that problem!

Help! My New Kegerator Parts Don’t Fit!

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Do you own a kegerator bought from one of the big box retailers? Have you ever tried to replace your faucet and wonder why it didn’t fit on your tower, or switch to a different keg coupler and it didn’t fit on your beer line? Well, there are certain appliance companies that reverse engineered the draft beer components and when these items were produced the industry standards were ignored.

Here is a list of some of the brands that I have run into over the years that don’t conform to industry standards. Some of these companies have changed their tune and now include industry standard components.

Manufacturer Model Years Affected
Danby 2004 and earlier
Avanti All
Haier 2004 and earlier
Nostalgia Electronics All

If you have a kegerator that’s not listed above, please contact us so we can include it in this list. (We are continuing to compile a more complete list of kegerators that do not conform to industry standards, and would love your feedback.)

The good news is that you can replace these parts with industry standard parts. All of the draft beer components we carry conform to industry standards. If you are unsure of the replacement part you need, give our knowledgeable staff a call and they will help you find the components you need.
