Cheerwine – It’s a Soft Drink and It’s Finally Here!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 by Liz

As the official description writer for the website, I tend to do a lot of product research. When I get to experience the product for myself though, that’s the best research there is.

Cheerwine

I knew that the famous soda Cheerwine would be tasty before it even arrived, seeing as one of my co-workers all but danced a celebratory jig when he heard we’d be carrying it. He’d become hooked when he lived in North Carolina years ago and he couldn’t wait to get his hands on a bottle here.

When it showed up, he raced into the back to reserve a case for himself. Luckily, our boss Dave was kind enough to chill an additional case and a half for employees to try and let me tell you, this stuff is gooooooood. As in, we’ll have to remember to save some for the customers good.

Cheerwine

I’m actually not much of a soda drinker but when I do indulge, my favorite is usually Cherry Coke. I’m saying this, just to point out that I’m a big cherry flavor fan to begin with. I won’t however compare Cheerwine to Cherry Coke though, seeing as it’s an apples to oranges type situation. I’m sure I will still enjoy Cherry Coke from time to time but Cheerwine has introduced me to a whole new kind of cherry pop.

Packaged in a vintage style glass bottle and made with real cane sugar, it’s just a different kind of drink. As corny as it may sound, it kind of takes you back to a simpler time, even if you never lived through that time in the first place.

Just knowing that the 5th generation of the inventor’s family is still running the company after 90+ years gives you an idea of the passion that goes into each bottle. One taste and you’ll know why the folks down in NC have been guzzling the stuff since 1917.

The website itsasoftdrink.com gives you a clear idea of the brand’s personality (which is fun, laid back and slightly cracked out) and after poking around a bit, you totally understand why their tagline is "Long Live Leisure". If you don’t believe me, you might want to listen to Beverage World Magazine or the people over at the Food Network, they love it to. Either way, you should get your hands on some. It just might be the best $1.50 you ever spend.

If their pop is as good as their website, this stuff must be dynamite. I’m trying some. Thanks for the tip.
