I Want This Pint Glass

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I love Stone Brewing Co. I love their beer and I love their attitude, so much that I even bought two Stone Brewing T-shirts (my favorite being the "Fizzy Yellow Beer is for Wussies" one).

When this new Arrogant Bastard pint glass came across my desk, I fell in love. Not only does it feature the Stone Arrogant Bastard logo, but my favorite catch phrase, too.

I can’t wait to make it my own.

Magic is in the Eye of the Wine Holder

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Magic doesn’t have to end when you’re young. It can happen in the smallest things. A glint in an eye, an unforgettable moment, a seemingly improbable feat of science. This is one of the things that just seems impossible, but is delightful when you set it up.

This handmade bottle holder is perfect for displaying your favorite wines as a table centerpiece making your dinner a bit more special and even interesting. Made of recycled French and American barrels, these oak staves are put to good use again as a functional, but decorative must for your wine collection.

Just remember, magic doesn’t always have to end as soon as you figure out the Easter bunny…

Your Milkshake’s Best Friend

Stainless Steel Spoon StrawsAren’t you ready for summer yet? I could at least go for a frigid spring. Sometimes when the cold gets unbearable, you’re brain starts freezing and you get ideas… How about an ice cold smoothie? Even though it was about 10 degrees the other day, the best thing for about 30 seconds of defying the weather is an iced cappuccino from home.

Ahhh… the refreshing feeling of being in a warmer climate and enjoying an owwwww. Brain freeze. Just stick your tongue up to the roof of your mouth and press hard, (I promise it will work). Then return to sip again, defying the weather and getting you one step closer to the mild weather you’ve been craving.

Also if you want to enjoy the cold beverage faster, use a stainless spoon straw. You can keep pounding down the frosty even after you’ve sipped enough for a massive ice cream headache! Plus, I love the chilling effect that the steel straw has on the drink. It just tastes better cold. There you have it. One ironic way to rid you of the winter doldrums.

Save Ample Space in Your Home Bar or Kitchen

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I’ve lived on my own for nearly 11 years and my many apartments have ranged in size from shoebox to 2-story monstrosity. No matter what type of place I lived, one thing remained the same; I am always lacking cabinet space.

Glass Stemware RacksMy kitchen cabinets, instead of being filled with food, are typically overflowing with glassware - beer glasses, wine glasses, martini glasses - you name it, I’ve got enough to fill 4 standard cabinets. Where does that leave my pantry items and baking equipment? Good question.

I’m between apartments for the next few months, living out of a few bags, but I’ve decided that, in the next place I call home, I will take it upon myself to quickly, easily and cost-effectively solve this decade-long problem of mine. I’m buying under counter glass racks. That way, any glass with a stem and a base can be moved from my collection in my cabinets, and I’ll have more room for food, my Kitchen Aid mixer, cake pans, bowls and whatever else I deem worthy of the newfound space.

Not only will I have more room to work with, but my glassware will be better protected and add to the décor of my kitchen as well… not to mention be ready and waiting for use, at any given moment.

Damn. How did it take me so long to come to this conclusion, anyway? Sometimes the simplest and most effective solutions are right under our noses.

Rally for Budweiser

Monday, February 8th, 2010

There were some great ads during the Super Bowl last night, most of them coming from Budweiser (who knew? haha). One of my particular favorites was this commercial, where everyone in the town rallied to bring the Budweiser delivery truck to the town, despite the bridge being out:

It may not convince me to pick up Budweiser instead of a craft brew (to each his own) but with that many advertising dollars, their ads are bound to be memorable. What were some of your favorite beer ads from Super Bowl this year?

The Perfect Football-Watching Companion

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

The big game! Action-packed football! Heart stopping plays! How am I possibly going to be able to catch all of this action and keep the beer flowing throughout the course of the entire game? Some would think that a quick trip to the fridge would be an option, but I know that the ads are some of the best that television has to offer… Others might think that you could trust your friends not to drink your best microbrews in a cooler that everyone has access to. I know better.

This is what I need. The Hops Holster. I can easily fit 6 of the best beers and still expect them to be cold in the insulated pockets, hours from kickoff. Also there’s a nifty pocket for cash that I’ll need when we inevitably need more pizza. Nice.
