These guys were created for a reason and one reason only, to dispense cold, delicious beer quickly and easily. From the moment you take one of these kegerators out of the box, it is ready to go (hence "Ready-to-Go Kegerator"). Ease and convenience are not all that’s makes these kegerators a great option.
Simple You won’t be scouring the streets on garbage night or searching thrift stores for a decent used fridge. Old refrigerators can be very big and very heavy and they're not much fun to move (especially when a stairs are involved). Ready-to-go-kegerators are more compact and much lighter than full sized fridges. A lot of them even come with casters so they roll along with ease, no heavy lifting required. Most of these are plug-and-play. Set up doesn’t get much easier.
Good Looking Sometimes image really is everything, and new keg refrigerators are easier on the eyes than an old converted fridge. They're sleek and stylish. If you're building a new bar, you're probably going for a particular look and feel. In most cases a new kegerator will be much easier to work into your vision. Choose from many different styles, including black or stainless finishes to match any look. There are even under-counter models available that can be installed flush into your cabinetry. Not only will you save space, it'll be easy to get the look you want to achieve.
Guaranteed Quality When you buy a kegerator new, it typically comes with a manufacturer's warranty. Warranties differ by manufacturer, but the standard is one year for parts and labor and five years on the compressor... you won't get that kind of protection with an old fridge. KegWorks sells only the highest quality kegerators; Names like Avanti, GE and Haier are synonymous with excellence.
Get it All Most Ready-to-Go Kegerators come with everything you need to serve beer. Just follow the manufacturer's instructions to set up the regulator and attach your tower, then plug it in. By the time you go to get the CO2 tank filled and buy your keg, it'll be all cooled down and you're ready to go.
Purposeful Design Conveniently, kegerators are made to hold kegs of beer. Refrigerators on the other hand, are made to hold food. To turn a food fridge into a keg fridge you'll have to make some modifications to its design. Of course, you'll have to drill a hole into the door for the shank and faucet, but you might also need to modify the door shelves first, to give you enough space to drill. You'll also have to remove the shelves and crisper drawers. While Ready-to-Go Kegerators are just that – ready, right out of the box!
Efficient Energy saving technology has advanced a lot the last few years. Out of the box Kegerators conserve power and save you money on your electric bill.
Convenient You can have cold, delicious beer ready and waiting whenever friends decide to show up. If you're going to a party you can fill up a couple of growlers and take your favorite beer with you!
Cost Kegerators are much more expensive than conversion kits. However, the simplicity and stylish look are worth the investment.
To decide what type of kegerator is right for you, you need to choose both desired placement and serving capabilities.
First, choose the model type that best fits your bar:
Under Counter Keg RefrigeratorsThese are the perfect solution if you want to install a draft system into your cabinetry. They're especially convenient if you want to have a tap right on your bar top. These units vent from the front, so the compressor won't overheat when installed in an enclosed area. These under counter kegerators make it easy to maintain the look you want for your bar and cabinetry by hiding bulky refrigeration and beer lines. You will have to leave a 1/4-inch gap around the sides of the unit, for easier installation and ventilation.
Stand Alone KegeratorsThese aren't built into the bar. They're typically set to the side of the bar and unless you're looking to use a commercial grade unit, this option will typically save you a couple hundred bucks.
Outdoor KegeratorsSpecial outdoor kegerators are made specifically to bare the elements. These outdoor models are typically stand alone kegerators. People commonly prefer these units when they want to keep them on decks or porches where they may be exposed to the weather. Although these units look the same as on the outside, there are two major differences. Outdoor units' exteriors are usually constructed of stainless steel to protect against corrosion. These units will also be specifically UL listed for outdoor use, which means that the electrical components are sealed from moisture. This prevents damage and protects users from electrocution. If a unit is not approved for outdoor use, keeping it outdoors may shorten the life of the kegerator and it can be dangerous.
Then decide how many beers you'll want on tap:
Single Tap KegeratorsSingle Tap Kegerators are the most popular type of kegerators. They allow you to serve one type of draft beer at a time. Single tap units are available in both stand alone and under counter kegerator models.
Multiple Tap KegeratorsThese are the answer if one kind of delicious draft beer isn't enough for you. With a multiple tap kegerator, you'll have the option of dispensing two or more beers at a time. The size of your refrigerator unit determines how many beers you're able to dispense. You need to keep the kegs cold. Even if you have a four-draft faucet tower, if the refrigeration unit can only hold two kegs, you will only be able to properly dispense two kinds of beer.
