To fully enjoy the Green Fairy known as absinthe, it is important to have all the right accessories. This set includes an absinthe glass and spoon, and 20 absinthe sugar cubes to maximize your experience.
To properly louche absinthe, it is important to have the proper equipment. The absinthe louche means slowly dripping sugar from the cube into the glass of absinthe through the slotted absinthe spoon. Each of these items makes doing so a much easier task.
The coupe glass is made specifically for use with absinthe. Its reservoir is 25 ml, the standard serving of absinthe. Pour the absinthe into the reservoir, then put the spoon on top of the glass so that the spoon’s slots are suspended over the mouth of the glass.
The absinthe sugar cube is then placed on top of the slots. The sugar is lower in height than a normal sugar cube and less pressed to make it easier to add to your glass. Slowly drip cold water onto the sugar cubes until a water to absinthe ratio of somewhere between 3-1 and 5-1 water is reached. At that point, you have a perfectly louched absinthe drip cocktail.
