If you haven't been making your Pisco Sours with Amargo Chuncho Peruvian Cocktail Bitters, you haven't been making authentic Pisco Sours.
Cocktail bitters are spirits infused with flavors, typically from plants, fruits, or spices. They date as far back as the early 1800's, originally used to assist with digestion and cure stomach aches. Infusing your cocktail recipes with just a few drops of bitters will give them an additional level of flavor depth. Many bitters are also renowned for their ability to cure hangovers.
Each batch of Amargo Chuncho is made from more than 30 peels, herbs, roots, barks and flowers from the forests of Peru – including Quina and Sarrapia leaves, both of which appear on the Peruvian flag. These potent botanicals are macerated then aged for six months in oak barrels before bottling.
The resultant bitters recipe is rich with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice supported by pretty floral and cherry cola notes. Amargo Chuncho is essential to the Pisco Sour, and it makes a fine substitute for Angostura or other aromatic bitters in your favorite cocktail recipes.
