- A classic bar tool that has come back into vogue is the ice tapper. Popular in the 1950s, an ice tapper is an ideal way to break apart cubes or chunks of ice into smaller pieces suitable for cocktails and drinks.
The Barfly Ice Tapper features a flexible, yet durable, 10.5" long black plastic handle that is ribbed to ensure a sturdy grip even with wet hands. A sturdy, heavy gauge 18/8 stainless steel ball is attached to perform the breaking of ice.
It is simple to use. Just hold a large piece of ice in your hand and hit it with the stainless steel end of the ice tapper to crack the ice into smaller pieces. Cracked ice is perfect for stronger drinks that could use a little dilution. It’s also helpful to crack ice cubes beforehand when making blended drinks because they will crush faster in your blender than full-sized cubes. -
