Matt Talbert (also known as “The Old Fashioned Artist”) is a ridiculously talented painter who just happens to have a fascination with the growing craft cocktail movement happening here in America.
Passionate about representational oil panting, Matt is most motivated to capture the seemingly normal moments in life (like the creation or consumption of a cocktail) in a way that shows them as extraordinary.
In his Artist Statement on Cocktail Culture, Matt explains “The similarities between both the craft of cocktails and the craft of painting runs deep. Both use traditional techniques, high quality materials and a skilled craftsman to create a unique interpretation of a timeless idea.”
It not only sounds good, it makes a lot of sense; kind of like Matt’s paintings. I’ll share a couple of my personal favorites below, but be sure to check out his blog to see more.
Keep in mind, we’re not in any way affiliated with the artist and we don’t get anything out of encouraging you to view or buy his work. In fact, we should probably be encouraging you to view and buy cheeky bar signs right now – but we think it’s important to spread the word about an artist who loves cocktails as much as we do. Enjoy!
