In Munich, Germany yesterday, a 94-year-old man broke out of the hospital in order to enjoy a birthday beer. He was discovered in an underground rail station, waiting for a train to take him to one of Germany’s many beer halls.
The passer-by who spotted him noticed that he had an intravenous drip needle still puncturing his left hand, and brought the gentleman to the transport authorities, who then called the police.
When questioned by officers about his presence at the rail station, and where he came from, the old man told them he was on his way to a beer hall for a belated birthday celebration. The police brought him back to the hospital, where doctors agreed to bend the rules and give the man the beverage he so desired in celebration of his 94 years.
There are very few things I wouldn’t do in order to meet this man, shake his hand, and wish him a happy birthday. Hell, if I lived in Germany, I’d probably smuggle a few Weissbiers into the hospital to celebrate with him.
Note: The man in the picture above is not the 94-year-old man from Germany. However, this guy looks pretty sweet, and I’m assuming (without any reason) that they probably look a lot alike.
