Back in my college days (any Canisius alumni out there?), I was a barista and shift manager at SPoT Coffee in Buffalo, NY. I got to experiment with a lot of interesting flavors and invent delicious coffee and tea concoctions every day as specials. One of my favorite base ingredients to play with was chai (I positively love chai).
Unfortunately, we didn’t (still don’t) have a liquor license so none of these beverages were spirited, but I still have a lot of my old recipes floating around in my head. Here’s one to try, converted to an “adult” beverage, just for you. Perfect for cold nights by the fire, this chai cocktail will warm you from the inside out.
Hot Chai Cocktail
Grab your favorite mug and pour in the Baileys Caramel Cream and vanilla vodka. Fill your mug the rest of the way with fresh-brewed, hot chai tea. Added 3 to 4 dashes of Aztec Chocolate Bitters and simple syrup, to taste. Give it a quick stir and enjoy.
For the record, I do NOT miss answering phones, “SPoT Coffee, spot on, this is Hannah. How can I help you?” [gag] I am, however, glad for all of the recipe experimentation I got to do through the years.
