Friends, take cover. The Polar Vortex approacheth. Cold, snow, ice, frost. The Polar Vortex shall display no mercy. Tremble before its power. It’s gonna be a blustery couple of days.
Not much for trembling? Yeah, us neither. Being based in Buffalo, NY, we know a thing or two about dealing with Old Man Winter during one of his temper tantrums. Like we always say, why tremble when you can drink beer?
In fact, I’m pretty sure that I can sum up our winter weather proficiency in one brief sentence: Buffalo loves hockey. And you don’t love hockey if you’re prone to whimpering when the mercury dips below freezing. That’s just fact.
So of course, one way that we’re spending some of this extra indoors time during the Polar Vortex is by reading up on all the happenings of the USA hockey team as we head into the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. I’ve got my Google Alerts all set up to keep me up-to-date on the latest news and notes for the boys in red, white, and blue. And today, I hit the motherlode.
According to Brian Stubits’ “Eye on Hockey” column on cbssports.com, Labatt Blue has unveiled a new set of collector’s edition cans that feature the USA Hockey jerseys from the 1960, 1980, 2002, and 2010 Winter Olympics.
These limited-edition 12-ounce cans are being sold to commemorate the USA Hockey program through the years. They’re nostalgic. They’re iconic. They’re, in three words, really friggin’ awesome.
Hopefully the news that such patriotic cans exist is enough to keep your heart warm on these cold, cold days. Once the weather breaks, you can go buy yours at local retailers wherever Labatt Blue is sold. Until then, stay warm, and bunker down with something delicious!
