What’s Brewing For Labor Day

There’s a good chance you’ll be grilling up some delicious food this weekend, in celebration of Labor Day. While the meal is ultra important (a person’s gotta eat, right?) the question on everyone’s mind is with which beers will you be washing down all that grilled grub?

It’s ok if you haven’t yet put any thought into this. That’s where I come in. Here’s a few surefire beers to perfectly pair with your menu and keep you happily hydrated all day long.

Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast
Start your Labor Day celebration off right with this creamy, tongue-coating Imperial Stout. Touting flavors of chocolate, coffee and bacon (oh yah, that’s right) there’s no better way to kick off your day off. Enjoy it alongside anything and everything involving bacon.

Victory HopDevil Ale
After you’ve enjoyed the heavy-bodied, malty Beer Geek Breakfast, you may be thirsting for something a bit more bitter. This medium-bodied ale gives your palate a swift kick of hops, balanced by a caramel-sweet malt backbone. Sip on HopDevil while munching on gorgonzola-topped apple slices or crackers and you’re golden.

La Chouffe
Snacking on shrimp cocktail before grilling? This Belgian Strong Golden Ale is the perfect accompaniment. Sweetness from the Belgian yeast pairs perfectly with the shrimp’s inherent sweetness, while the bitter, floral hops stands strong against the cocktail sauce. I highly recommend this combination.

Smuttynose Robust Porter
This smoky, balanced porter is a wondrous beer to pair with just about anything you toss onto a grill. Chocolate sweetness is offset by coffee and hops bitterness, making Smuttynose Robust Porter an ideal match to barbecue, burgers and steaks.

Got some other choice items on your Labor Day menu? We’d love to hear what you’ve got planned and we’d be happy to help you choose the perfect beers.
