Miller Lite will be releasing their new Punch Top Cans in stores across the country this week. The new cans are equipped with a second tab designed to generate a smoother pour and create a more enjoyable pilsner drinking experience.
Miller is set to release a series of commercials like the one above to promote the new can. Amy Breeze, director of innovation and activation for Miller Lite, said they hope their marketing campaign will inspire consumers to get creative with their can-opening methods and techniques. Something like "playing 18 with the boys and you want to crack a beer before a big birdie putt? Use your tee!" Heck, I’d do that – if I was ever putting for birdie. Bogey beers are cool too, though, who cares?!
Breeze said consumers preferred the Punch Top can three-to-one during taste testing experiments. Because of this, all Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft 12- and 16-ounce cans will now be available in the Punch Top styled can.
The punch tab is located at the top of the can. Very cool, but I couldn’t help thinking how a second tab on the side of the can could have been really handy during my college days when I was shotgunning beers on a semi-regular basis.
