Here at KegWorks, we’re big fans of the southern cherry soda called Cheerwine. I still remember, on my very first day, my new boss asked if I liked soda, and when I told her I did, she ran to the cooler and came back beaming with a sweaty bottle of Cheerwine. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Made in North Carolina, with origins dating back to 1917, Cheerwine is made from real cane sugar and loaded with the perfect amount of cherry flavor. You won’t find it too many places up north, but if you’re shopping with KegWorks, you have plenty of options. Not only is it available in cans, glass bottles, and diet, but we love it so much, that we started making and selling 8-ounce Cheerwine drinking glasses.

For the last two years, the soda company has been running a Miss Cheerwine contest, looking for “smart, charitable and effervescent young ladies” between the ages of 21 and 29 to represent the brand. The position lasts for a year and includes appearances at concerts, sporting events, and other media opportunities. Miss Cheerwine is essentially one of the company’s chief brand ambassadors.

In previous years, the contest was open only to females residing in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and Georgia. This year, however, the brand is opening the contest to residents of Alabama, Delaware, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. Applicants must submit a photo, along with an essay that explains why they deserve the title of “Miss Cheerwine.”

Cheerwine is hoping to make their product available nationally by their centennial in 2017, so this year’s winner will have a large role in expanding brand awareness. Joy Ritchie, Assistant Brand Manager for Cheerwine said “We are excited to find a brand ambassador who exudes the same unique, impassioned qualities of our fans, and who also knows that Cheerwine is more than just a soft drink. It’s a way of life.”

The company is accepting applications until April 5, 2013. Three finalists will be chosen, and each will create a video introducing themselves to fans on the Cheerwine Facebook page. The fans will then vote on their favorite, and the company will announce the winner in June.

Any twenty-something females reading this in the aforementioned states, this could be your opportunity. If not, you can simply be a brand ambassador in your own town or city. At the very least, drink Cheerwine. We promise you’ll love it.
