A couple of weeks ago, I told you guys about the awesome Mason Shaker seen in the picture above. Since we got the Mason Shakers in, we’ve also added a set of personalized 26-ounce Mason drinking jars, 16.5-ounce Libbey Mason jar mugs, and in May, we’re bringing in a set of Mason jar shot glasses.
You’re probably wondering what all these Mason jar products are about. Or maybe you’re a super hipster and you’re keenly aware of their rising cool factor. While I typically try to stray from the hipster trends, this is one I’m willing to get behind.
For those of you who missed my post last week, let me give you a brief download on the Mason Shaker. It began as a Kickstarter project with a fundraising goal of $5,000. The two dudes who started it, Josh and Eric, ended up with over $70,000. Needless to say, they were able to put the shaker to production, and here we are. Why a Mason jar? Their explanation is pretty rad, so I’ll let you read that instead of telling you myself:
The concept for the Mason Shaker was developed from an obsession with vintage kitchenware (Josh) and an uncanny ability to fashion impromptu drinking tools at a moment’s notice (Eric). After one too many mint juleps poured from a poorly-modified Mason Jar one summer, the idea for a better (and cooler) cocktail shaker hit us like a double shot of whiskey. The Mason Shaker was born.
I had one on my desk for a couple of weeks before writing about it, and I gotta say, it’s more than a cool looking product, it’s a fully functional bar tool.
With regards to the other Mason jar products, they were all brought in by one of our Category Managers, Jason. He’s good with the niche stuff. He knows what’s hot a month before it’s hot, and he caught wind of the Mason jar trend a couple of months back.
Simply put, the Mason jar has that summer feel. Whether you’re drinking beer, lemonade, soda, or using one to make a cocktail, the jar just emanates summery vibes. We’re stoked to have them in and we hope you are too.
