Ready to serve delicious draft beer from your Cornelius keg? First, you’ll need a quick disconnect, such as this one, to attach your gas tank to your keg.
The Cornelius keg, or Corny keg for short, is by far the most popular size keg for homebrewers. There are two styles of Corny kegs that are very similar except for the way the couplers lock into place. This gas quick disconnect uses the ball lock style, which was originally called the Pepsi keg.
The body of the quick disconnect is plastic, and the grey color indicates it’s designed for the gas side of your keg. To complete your system, you’ll also need a liquid quick disconnect, which comes in black.
To install your ball lock disconnect on your keg, pull up on the collar, push the coupler over the gas post, and let go. The internal spring will release and lock the disconnect in place.
This quick disconnect comes with an integrated ¼ in. barbed outlet, which makes hooking up your beer line incredibly simple. First, slide the plastic line over the nipple, then use a screw clamp to tight around the hose.
