    Perfect for threaded holes
I chose this insert because I wanted to tap a threaded hole in my tap handle prior to installing the insert. Other inserts I've found are pressure fit into a drilled hole and could result in splitting of the handle. I found that a 29/64 hole tapped with a 1/2-20 NC tap is appropriate for this insert. A little epoxy on the threads makes this a permanent and very strong installation.

    Good Product, will buy again
I work at KegWorks and bought these fittings to make some simple tap handles on the lathe, and just drilled holes in the bottom and used some epoxy to glue the fittings in place. Very easy to use.
Worked phenomenally well for some DIY tap handles.

    Great Threads!
I've tried a few different inserts, and find that these work quite well. I build custom tap handles out of solid maple and like that these thread in quite easily. They have a smaller outside diameter which means a smaller hole. You will need two different bits since there is quite a variation between the inserts in outside diameter. Also being from Canada, the price of getting them to my door is a little hard to swallow. First the exchange rate, and then the outrageous shipping charges. But for now, I will continue to use them.

    Response from Kegworks
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that the shipping charges were so high to Canada. We are working to try to lower the cost of shipping items internationally, but many times the charges are not within our control. Happy to hear that the fittings are working out for your custom tap handles. We hope you'll shop with us again!

Would be better if had groves on ends for flat head screw driver to help screw into custom made handle. Had to use plyers being careful not to ruin threads.

I'm making my own tap handles. Do I need this threaded fitting and the "replacement bolt for wooden tap handle?" I want to make sure I get everything I need. Thanks
    A shopper on Oct 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The fitting is all you need. Screw it into the bottom of your handle and it should screw onto the tap. I have made several handles using barrel wood from Jack Daniels. It you are going to have laser engraving on the handle be sure to put the handle on the tap and mark the front. This way your engraving will be in the right place on the handle.
The inside threads are specified as 3/8-16. Can anyone tell me what the outside threads are? I would like to tap a threaded hole In the handle if possible prior to installing the insert. Thanks.
    A shopper on Jan 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your replies Michael and Lindy. I went ahead and ordered the inserts which arrived today. Here's the specs I was after: external threads are 1/2-20 NF, and the appropriate drill size for the hole is 29/64. I had already drilled a 1/2" hole and so the tap was only effective for a couple of threads so I used epoxy and all should be fine. Even with the proper size hole and tapped threads, I still plan to use epoxy in all future applications. So, a 29/64 hole tapped with 1/2-20 NF threads should work with any handle; wood, plastic, metal, etc.
My tap handle on the bar and my new pull handle both have female ends...do I need this to join and attach or do I have to replace the main handle to a male fitting?
    Jim P on Jun 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It may be best to replace the main handle with a stud (male fitting). You can most likely find a stud coupler on Kegworks. It sounds odd that the tap has a female fitting too.
