Made with spicy blackstrap molasses, nutmeg, and roasted coffee beans, these Fee Brothers bitters work beautifully with rum-based and tiki cocktails.

    Overview

Upgrade your cocktail mixology arsenal with a bottle of Fee Brothers Molasses Cocktail Bitters.

Cocktail bitters are spirits infused with flavors, typically from plants, fruits, or spices. They date as far back as the early 1800's, originally used to assist with digestion and cure stomach aches. Infusing your cocktail recipes with just a few drops of bitters will give them an additional level of flavor depth. Many bitters are also renowned for their ability to cure hangovers.

Fee Brothers, located in Rochester, NY, is a fourth-generation family-owned business that began as a small saloon/delicatessen back in 1863. Today, the product list includes almost 100 drink and cocktail mix products, shipped to distributors and establishments across six continents.

Featuring a unique flavor blend of spicy blackstrap molasses (the darkest grade of molasses), nutmeg, and roasted coffee, these bitters are another slam dunk from the experts at Fee Brothers.

Use these molasses coffee bitters in any rum cocktail (both rum and molasses are derived from sugarcane) or pair them with bourbon, rye, anejo tequila, or another spirit of your choice.

Like all Fee Brothers bitters, this product comes packaged in a paper-wrapped glass bottle with a screw-top cap and dasher insert for easy, controlled dispensing.

Each 5 ounce bottle of bitters contains approximately 150 dashes. The amount of liquid in one dash varies depending on the amount of bitters left in the bottle. The less remaining in the bottle, the bigger your dash gets.

    tastes like molasses
I've only used this in "Manhattans" -- but since these "bitters" are still sweet, leave the sweet vermouth out. Gives your cocktail a bit of a different swing, but good!

With the Centennial anniv. of the Boston Molasses flood of 15 Jan 1919 fast approaching, we needed to find a commercial product with molasses as a flavoring agent to use as a "baseline" with which to judge all others. Local liquor stores don't carry this flavor, we found it online, and we bought it, online. When remembering the 21 lives lost and over 150 lives of folks injured during this tragedy we want to ensure that Capitalism is represented at the tasting table.

I've stopped drinking alcohol and am enjoying club soda with bitters and lime as an alternative. I have chosen 3 bitters from Kegworks to explore flavors to enhance my new drink of choice. Molasses, Aztec Chocolate and Black Walnut are my first trials.
