What You Need to Know About Glycol Cooling Systems
Understanding if Glycol Fits Your Needs:
A glycol chiller is the right solution if you’re using a long-draw system. This means that you would like to have your chiller at least 75’ away from where you plan to dispense.
You can choose from a variety of Glycol Power Packs that range in the lengths of trunk lines they are fitted to. We sell Glycol Coolers that configure with 75-foot trunk lines up to 450-foot trunk lines. All Power Packs have a specific length of line they fit, but the trunk lines are not included with the single purchase of the cooler itself.
For trunk lines, we offer three diameter options. From the 1/4" diameter trunk line to the largest 3/8"diameter, all of the tubes hold up to 12 beer lines and 4 glycol lines. Depending on the cooler you purchase, you will need to input the corresponding length when you buy your trunk line.
Finally, you will need a Glycol Cooled Beer Tower, which is set to work seamlessly with the rest of your glycol draft system.
For most long-draw draft beer set-ups, a glycol cooling system is the way to go. This system implements a separate chiller that uses the power of glycol to move beer further distances, while still keeping it cold from keg to tap. Propylene glycol, a non-toxic, food-grade antifreeze, is the main component that’s been used for many years in food-processing systems.
Propylene glycol is combined with water to create a chilled mixture that’s pumped from the glycol power pack through the cooling lines that run parallel to your beer lines. Both distinct lines are kept cold by the internal moisture barrier in the trunk line and foil wrap around each glycol line.
