This quality sour mix from the expert at Fee Brothers is a convenient substitute for citrus juice and simple.

    Overview

At home or in a bar setting, it's not always possible to have fresh citrus juice on hand. That's where this convenient and economical sour mix comes in handy.

Fee Brothers Swee-Tart Cocktail Sour Mix is made with citric acid and sugar to provide a shelf-stable alternative to lemon and lime juices.

Simply combine this 10-ounce pouch of powder with water to make one quart of sour mix. The sour mix can then be combined with a variety of spirits to flavor popular drinks like the Tom Collins, sloe gin fizz, whiskey sour, and margarita. When prepared using the recommended recipes on the bag, one pouch of Swee-Tart will yield approximately 32 mixed drinks.

Opened in 1863, Fee Brothers of Rochester, New York, is in its fourth generation of manufacturing top quality cocktail mixes, bitters, flavoring syrups and other beverage ingredients.

Have been using the product for many years but is no longer available at our West Des Moines Hy-Vee stores. The only place in Des Moines Iowa that it was available. and it was a 40 oz. package!

I love this mix and am glad I am seeing it in more restaurants/bars. The mix in the plastic bottles for pennies just doesn't taste good.

Can you use this to make amaretto sours as well?
    Sarah A on Aug 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A recipe on google calls for sweet and sour and this has got to be the best sweet and sour so I'd sure give it a try. I taste my S & S mix to make sure it's not too weak or too strong and then store it in frig. Enjoy.
Hi Vicky... and thank you for a quick response...as I am very interested in your ptoduct .. but still confused.
In the industry, we have "ready to use" and "concentrate" sweet/sour.
For a 10 to 12 once tom collins, you would use about an once of concentrate, or 2-4 ounces of "ready to use" sweet/sour for an appropriate drink.
So, are you saying 1once of your mix is adequet for a 12 ounce Tom Collins ...and in effect a concentrate.? ( I was a casino bartender for ten years) or would 1 once make a very weekly flavored drink.?

In effect, would you call it a concentrate, or a "ready to use strait" sweet/sour, or something in between.?

    Thanks for your help.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Peter, I would consider this a concentrate. The instructions say to add the entire 10 ounce package to 1 quart of water then add 1 fluid ounce to the drink you are making. I think just adding 1 ounce of the powder when mixing a drink would be much too strong. Hope that helps clear up any confusion.
Your site says that 10 oz of powdered fee brothers sweet/sour makes one quart which will make 32 drinks... so are you saying that it produces a CONCENTRATE sweet sour...... or just very small drinks.?
I am not being sarcastic.... just trying to understand the product.
    Thank you

BEST ANSWER: Hi Peter, thanks for your question. I see how the description is confusing. The estimated number of drinks is assuming that you are using 1 oz of liquid in a mixed drink with other ingredients. For example, to make a Tom Collins with this mix you would use 1.5 oz of Gin, 1 oz of the liquid sour mix, pour over ice and top with soda water in a 12 ounce glass. I hope that helps, cheers!
