Dealing with a tight clearance above your keg? This low-profile US Sankey (D System) coupler is just what you need to dispense most North American brews.

    Overview

Setting up your draft beer system in small refrigerator can be a challenge – but it’s not impossible. This low-profile keg coupler is designed for tight clearance installations.

The keg coupler’s job is to connect your CO2 tank to the keg so the gas can push the beer up through the beer line. The bottom of the coupler attaches to the keg valve, and the beer line and air line slide over the horizontal hose nipples and secured with screw clamps.

With standard keg couplers, you need a few inches of clearance above the top of your keg. But with a low-profile design, this keg coupler only sticks up about ¾ inch above the rim of the keg. So you’ll have an easier time installing and operating your keg setup in limited space.

This keg coupler uses the US Sankey (D System), which is the valve system of choice for just about all beers brewed in North America, including Budweiser, Michelob, Busch, Miller Lite, Coors, Killians, Sam Adams, Labatt, and more. To be safe, check our handy coupler list to find out which system your favorite beer calls for.

Made from brass with a chrome-plated finish, this keg coupler is very durable and easy to install. It’s a great choice for both home and commercial bars.

Gave me the room at the top of the keg that I needed
The couplers that came with the Glaros 3 tap Kegerator I just purchased from Costco.com left no room at the top of the inside of my Kegerator -- they were rubbing and flexing just to put them in place inside the unit. So much so that I feared the pressure would make them leak eventually, not to mention that it was a pain to try to slide them around to adjust the CO2 or switch out the kegs.
The Perlick low profile Sankey couplers I bought were just the fix I needed. They give me an extra two or more inches.
Just wish they came in stainless steel, or, if Perlick does make them in SS, wish Kegworks.com carried them. No big deal though. I'm guessing the chrome (or whatever it is) will do fine.

    Great product.

Way more user-friendly than standard couplers
Great coupler, makes it much easier to tap kegs where there is minimum clearance between the keg and refer. Also makes it easier to move the keg around when checking how much beer you have remaining.

Awesome addition to a keg fridge
This coupler easily gives you back 5-6 inches of top clearance over a standard coupler. Was able to add shelves above both kegs in my converted keg fridge. Solid construction and easy to connect. Will buy a second one very soon.

Works great in beer dispensators when the tall keg coupler hits the condenser fan. Allows the keg to be pushed all the way to the back of the chiller.

Ideal component for my application which is to apply organic chemicals for disinfecting, pest control, and odor control. Pressurize the keg to 50 psi then pulse mist the chemical. Similar to a shot of perfume.

Our church inherited a restaurant-grade kegerator that almost definitely had one of these originally, but no longer. Wedging the existing connector in causes some very un-Christian language (from the vicar!), hoping this will address that.

Not enough clearance in top of converted chest freezer for 15.5 gallon keg to fit under closed lid. This low profile tap should let keg fit.

True Kegerator has a line cooling ledge that prevents 1/2 and 1/6 barrels from fitting properly. These low profile couplers allow the kegs to be slid all the way to the back of the kegerator.

Will this fit the 1/4 keg tall/slim size?
    TIM M. on Apr 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have used this on 5 gallon and 15.5 gallon kegs with no problem. I had to use it because the kegerator we have is not as tall as other ones and the standard coupler with the beer line coming off the top would cause the hose to kink closed as it hit the top of the inside of the fridge.

With this one, both lines come out just a little above the keg handles.
How do you untap kegs using this style of coupler?
    katie w on Jan 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: By "untap" I assume you mean to stop the flow of beer by releasing the ball inside the keg coupler hole. The Sankey coupler has an upper and lower portion. The lower portion actually screws down inside of the keg opening and the upper portion then screws down inside of the lower portion to actually "tap" the keg. Make sure your tap handle is closed first! To "untap", simply screw the upper portion counter clockwise until it is loose inside of the lower portion (approximately one quarter to one third of a turn). To completely remove the Sankey coupler from the keg, keep turning counter clockwise until lose and removable.
    Cheers, Freshkeg.
    How to attach coupler?
    A shopper on Jun 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Pretty easy really, just start threading the coupler into the Keg like normal till it stops (about a 1/2 turn), then you have to push down on the coupler firmly and continue to twist the coupler to tap the keg. I would recommend that you turn on your CO2 after you make it past the first part of coupling so as to minimize beer back flowing into your CO2 line. Over all, a great coupler for those with limited fridge height.
Besides being a little more expensive than the standard couplers, are there any drawbacks to this coupler over the traditional ones?
Also, what other parts are necessary to use this coupler. I assume it is necessary to change your tubing for the CO2 and beer (eliminate the threaded connections and attach the tubing directly to the hose adapters)?
    Bill R on Jun 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I've used these for years and really like them. I find them easier to operate (i.e., tap/untap) than standard couplers. Also, I like that there is more clearance above the keg -- that's an issue for me as I am cramming two 1/6 kegs into a small kegerator that has barely enough space for a standard coupler. I like the look of these as well.

No other parts are necessary. When I went to these, I just cut the tubing where the old threaded connectors were located and attached the tubing to these couplers and tr-used the old hose clamps.

That all being said, if you don't need the space and don't mind how the standard couplers operate, then the extra expense is probably not worth it.
How Do you flush the line with this coupler? It doesn't seem to come apart like a standard coupler. Or does it? Thanks.
    A shopper on May 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can take some of it apart but I simply turn off my gas, drop the coupler (with both lines still attached) into a drain bucket and run the line cleaning solution through the lines AND the coupler at the same time. I'm not if it makes a difference if the coupler is compressed or extended, just observe and make sure the solution is draining into the bucket. I run one or two bottles of the solution through the system, followed by at least four bottles of clean water. I've heard of people cleaning the beer spigot in place as well by turning it upside down, on the tower, opening the handle, and putting a hose over the tip. I prefer to remove and take it apart to clean it (just easier).

    Cheers from "freshkeg".
    Hi all,

I just purchased one of these and have not used it yet. What is the best way to clean it after use?

I'm a homebrewer and only have experience with Corny kegs.
    chrisjm on Sep 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Chris, cleaning is pretty simple. You have two options. You can soak the coupler in diluted beer line cleaning solution and use a faucet brush to clean the outlets. Or you can clean from the coupler to the faucet with the Super Deluxe Cleaning Kit that includes a sankey flusher. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to our customer care team at 877-636-3673. Cheers!

WILL THIS LOW PROFILE WORK ON WINE KEGS?
    BRUCE F on Apr 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Bruce, while this coupler will fit any keg with a D coupler connection we do not recommend that you use this coupler for dispensing wine. Keg wine systems should only use all stainless steel contact components, including coupler. The acidity in wine will break down the chrome plating and negatively affect the taste and quality of the wine. I've attached the stainless steel D couplers that we carry. Neither are low-profile but will work perfectly for wine kegs. Cheers!
