Ok Kegerator

First, this item is not stocked by KegWorks and ships direct from the manufacturer, Summit. It did not ship out in the usual 5 to 7 days as claimed on the page and took 2 weeks to ship out.Once it arrived I found the body of the fridge to be pretty sturdy and nice looking. I like the digital temperature control, very slick. The tower was very difficult to get attached to the body. The instruction manual that comes with it is rather useless as it refers to 2 different models at the same time and the diagram pictures have nearly no detail and would require a magnifying glass even for an owl. Even after I figured out which model was mine it took nearly 10 minutes of trying to screw it on and many moments where I thought I was going to break it.Some of the inner parts (coupler, regulator) are rather cheap looking. They work fine for now but I will probably replace them with higher quality, MicroMatic parts in the future. The spring loaded faucet is terrible. It requires so much force to open it that it causes excess restriction that causes foaming. I replaced this immediately with a Perlick faucet. You can simply remove the faucet (if you have the proper wrench) and take out the spring but I would still recommend replacing it all together.Speaking of foaming the tower does not seem to hold temperature very well. I've set the temperature to anywhere between 33 and 37 and it does not seem to matter. Your first pour will be 1/4 to 1/2 foam then clear up as the line clears out what was in the tower. If you pour a couple for your friends now you will be good but wait 10 more minutes and the same will happen. I might need to make a little glycol reservoir with a sub pump and lines that go up the tower around the line to keep it cool.Overall this is an ok kegerator. Its what I expect for an entry level one. Sturdy body but everything else seems just like the lowest quality. It is definitely not worth $1300. For my money I would expect some higher quality parts in it.

Questions & Answers

I chose this model because it is better quality than my previous kegerator which did not perform well and stopped working recently.
This is my first one. Chosen for value. I have been tapping out 1/6 barrels out of a garage fridge with a picnic hose faucet; time for an upgrade.
